Why Perplexity needs its own tracking
Perplexity searches the web each time it answers and shows the sources it used. So its shortlist depends on which pages it finds that day, and its sources show you exactly where to get mentioned. ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude often name different vendors for the same question, so winning on one does not mean winning on Perplexity.
What we track on Perplexity
The same six things for every buyer question, every week.
How often you are named
Out of all Perplexity replies to your questions, how many mention you. A likely range sits next to it while the sample is still small.
Who is named instead
Every rival Perplexity recommends, and how often, so you see who is taking your place.
Websites it cites
The sites Perplexity relies on in your category, and whether your own site is one of them.
Where you appear
How early in the answer you are named. Shown on its own tile, because position moves more than naming.
How you are described
The words Perplexity uses about you, good and bad, so you can fix the story at its source.
Perplexity vs the others
The same questions on ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, side by side, so you can see where Perplexity differs.
How it works
Set up once. After that it runs on its own.
- Pick your buyer questionsWe draft them from your website and your rivals. You tick the ones that sound like real buyers. 5 questions on the trial, up to 25 on a paid plan.
- We ask Perplexity every weekChatGPT, Gemini and Claude get the identical questions. Several runs per question smooth out one-off replies.
- See what changedOne headline number with a range. Small wobbles are labelled Unclear, so you only see a rise or drop when the shift is large enough to trust.

Questions
Can I track my visibility on Perplexity for free?
Yes. The free 14-day Live AI Monitoring trial asks Perplexity, ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude your buyer questions and shows every answer. The 2-minute free check on our home page uses Gemini only, so start the trial when Perplexity is the one you care about.
How often is Perplexity checked?
Weekly. The wording never changes between checks, and every question goes to Perplexity several times, so a single odd reply cannot swing your result.
Does it show which websites Perplexity cites?
Yes. Perplexity searches the web and shares the sources behind its answer. We count which websites it cites, and whether your own site is one of them.
Do you track only Perplexity?
No. The same questions go to ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude too, so you can see whether Perplexity agrees with the others or names different companies.
Is this the same answer a person sees in the Perplexity app?
Close, but not always identical. We ask through Perplexity's own API in a clean session, while a signed-in person may get a slightly different answer. Repeating each question and reporting a range keeps that difference from misleading you.
See what Perplexity says about you
Your first check runs as soon as you confirm your questions, on Perplexity, ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude.
