Lending is regulated by the RBI; digital lending follows the Digital Lending Directions, 2025, which replaced the 2022 guidelines. State rates and charges clearly, list lending service providers, and never promise approval.

Questions

Questions

Should NBFCs and lenders publish interest rates and charges on their website?

Yes. Clear costs build trust, and borrowers who cannot find them often leave for a lender that shows them. A page per product with the interest rate range, processing fee, prepayment terms and other charges answers the question every borrower asks first: what will this cost me?

RBI's rules point the same way for digital loans. Under the Digital Lending Directions, 2025, the regulated entity must provide a Key Fact Statement to the borrower. (RBI Digital Lending Directions, 2025) A page explaining what your KFS contains, with a sample layout, shows borrowers you have nothing to hide.

What a good product page includes:

  • Interest rate range and how the rate is decided, such as by profile and tenure.
  • All charges: processing, documentation, late payment, foreclosure.
  • Eligibility and documents, written plainly.
  • Typical decision time, stated honestly.
  • Grievance contact and your registered lender name.

Avoid teaser rates that few borrowers get, "lowest rate" claims and anything that suggests approval is assured.

These pages also help AI tools. When someone asks "which NBFC gives loan against property at a reasonable rate in Jaipur", an AI answer can only name you if your rates and terms are on a page it can read.

Do branch pages help an NBFC's local searches?

Yes. Many loan searches include a city, a locality or "near me", and a page per branch is the clearest way to match them. "Gold loan near me", "used car loan in Jaipur" and "tractor loan in Nashik" are searches from people ready to visit, and Google favours pages that clearly serve that place.

A useful branch page has:

  • The branch address, phone, hours and a map.
  • The products offered at that branch, which may differ from others.
  • The documents to bring, and whether a doorstep service exists.
  • Local facts that help, such as nearby landmarks or languages spoken.
  • A matching Google Business Profile with the same name, address and phone.

Avoid copying one template across 200 branches with only the city name changed. Pages that look identical give Google and AI tools little reason to show any of them.

Measure branch by branch. Track the main product searches for each city where you have branches, and log which branch each enquiry came to. Over a few months you will see which branches gain from search and which still depend on walk-ins and DSAs.

Google Visibility checks searches by city, and Radar mode covers 50 searches for lenders with many branches.

What must an NBFC's website show under RBI's Digital Lending Directions, 2025?

If you lend digitally, your website must carry details of your lending service providers and their digital lending apps, and the activities they are engaged for. (RBI Digital Lending Directions, 2025) The Directions, dated 8 May 2025, repealed the 2022 Guidelines on Digital Lending and other circulars. (RBI Digital Lending Directions, 2025) Pages that still cite the 2022 guidelines as current need updating.

Other points from the Directions that shape your borrower-facing pages:

  • You must provide borrowers with a Key Fact Statement. (RBI Digital Lending Directions, 2025) Explaining what it contains before application builds trust.
  • Your lending service providers' pages and apps should describe you consistently with your own site, so borrowers can match names.

Alongside the digital lending rules, borrowers and AI tools look for basics that every lender should show plainly:

  1. Your registered name as an NBFC, and the brand names you use.
  2. Products, eligibility, documents and all charges.
  3. Grievance redress details and contact information.
  4. Branch locations.

Keep a dated record of what each page said and when, so you can show what borrowers saw. The Directions contain much more than this summary, including obligations on data and apps; your compliance team should map your site against the full text. This is not legal advice.

Should an NBFC put budget into loan aggregators or its own website?

Both have a role, but your own website is the asset that keeps working, while aggregator leads stop when you stop paying. Aggregators bring volume for broad products, often at a cost per lead and with borrowers comparing you against many rivals at once. Your own pages bring borrowers who searched for your product, your city or your name.

How to decide the balance:

  1. Log the source of every enquiry, including the aggregator name.
  2. Track it to disbursal, with the loan amount.
  3. Compare cost per disbursed loan, not cost per lead. A cheap lead that never disburses is expensive.
  4. Look at repeat business. Borrowers who came direct often return for a top-up or a second loan; aggregator borrowers often go back to the aggregator.

Where your own site usually wins: specific products (tractor loans, gold loans, loans for self-employed people without ITRs), local branch searches and searches for your brand.

Where aggregators usually win: broad, rate-led searches such as "personal loan", where they have far more content and comparison tools.

Clicks are also harder to earn as AI summaries grow. Seer Interactive found brands cited in a Google AI Overview get 35% more organic clicks and 91% more paid clicks than those not cited. (Seer Interactive, 2025) Being the cited source matters as much as ranking.

How can an NBFC connect website enquiries to disbursed loans?

Give every enquiry a source at first contact and carry it through to disbursal in the same record. Most lenders already track leads in a loan origination system; the gap is usually that "website" is one bucket, with no record of which search or AI tool brought the borrower.

Steps that work across branches and call centres:

  1. Add a source field to every lead form and call script: Google search, AI tool, branch walk-in, DSA, aggregator, referral.
  2. On web forms, record the page the borrower enquired from.
  3. When a loan is sanctioned and disbursed, update the record with the product, branch and amount.
  4. Each month, total disbursed value by source and by product page.

This shows things a traffic report cannot. A "loan against property" page might bring few visits but many disbursals; a popular EMI calculator might bring thousands of visits and almost no loans.

Keep the marketing log separate from credit data. The source, product, branch, stage and amount are enough; the borrower's identity and financial details belong in your lending systems, not a marketing report.

WebVisiblity's enquiries and revenue report does this monthly beside your Google and AI visibility, so you can see whether better rankings led to more disbursed value.
