- Case studies are missing, so buyers cannot judge your experience.
- AI tools build shortlists from firms that explain their work clearly.
- Industry-specific searches find specialists.

Questions
Do companies really search online for management consultants?
Yes, usually by problem rather than by "consultant": a quality certificate, a process issue, falling margins, a family succession or growth stalling. Searches such as "iso 9001 certification consultant", "lean manufacturing consultant", "family business succession planning" and "sop consultant for companies" come from owners and plant heads who already know what they need fixed.
Business buyers also do much of their research before speaking to anyone. 6sense's 2025 report found buyers initiated 79% of engagements with sellers. (6sense, 2025) The firms that are found during research are the ones called.
What to publish:
- A page per problem you solve, explaining causes, approach, typical duration and what the client must commit.
- Industry pages where you have real experience, such as auto components, pharma or FMCG distribution.
- Case studies, named with permission or anonymised, with results stated honestly.
- Team pages showing who actually does the work.
A common mistake is a website about the firm's values and history, with services listed in one line each. Buyers searching for a specific problem never land there, and AI tools have nothing specific to quote.
Track problem searches for your cities with Google Visibility, and log which ones bring discovery calls.
How do AI tools choose which management consultants to name?
They tend to name consultants whose pages, and pages about them elsewhere, clearly connect a problem, an industry and a result. No AI company publishes its method, but these tools search the web, read what they find and summarise it, so specific, factual content gives them something to work with.
Business buyers rely on the result. Semrush's 2026 survey of more than 600 US business professionals found that 92% of those using AI at work said it had shaped their vendor shortlist. (Semrush, 2026) If a plant head asks Gemini "who can help a mid-size auto parts maker in Pune reduce rejections", the firms named start ahead.
What improves your chances:
- Problem pages that use the words buyers use: "reduce rejection rate", "implement 5S", "prepare for IATF audit".
- Case studies stating the industry, the starting point, the work and the measured result.
- Named consultants with their experience, on your site and on LinkedIn.
- Mentions in industry associations, trade publications and event programmes.
LinkedIn matters more than many firms think. Semrush found Google's AI Mode consistently cited LinkedIn in nearly 15% of its responses. (Semrush, 2025) Consistent profiles and articles from your consultants add to what AI tools can find.
Check over weeks, not once; how we measure explains why.
Can management consultants name clients and publish results?
Yes, with written client permission and accurate figures, since management consulting has no advertising code like those for CAs or advisers. The limits come from your contracts, from consumer law on misleading claims and from your own credibility.
Before publishing a case study:
- Check the confidentiality terms in the engagement agreement.
- Get written approval for the client's name, logo, quotes and every figure.
- State the baseline, the result, the period and how it was measured.
- Separate what your team did from what the client's team did.
- Note other factors that affected the result, such as a market upturn.
If the client prefers anonymity, describe them precisely without naming: "a family-owned spices exporter with three plants in Kerala". That is still specific enough for buyers and AI tools.
Avoid inflated claims such as "we doubled revenue for every client". Buyers distrust them, and they are hard to defend.
Strong case studies serve both search and AI. A page titled "reducing changeover time at an injection moulding plant" can rank for a buyer's search and be cited when someone asks an AI tool who has solved that problem. If any partner is a CA, check whether ICAI's rules on client names apply to them. (ICAI website guidelines, 2020)
How can a consulting firm track which enquiries became engagements?
Record how each prospect found you at the first call, then update the same record at proposal and at signing, with the engagement value. Consulting sales cycles are long and involve several people, so without that link it is easy to credit the wrong channel.
A simple process:
- Ask on the discovery call: "How did you first come across us?" Options include Google, an AI tool, LinkedIn, a referral, an event or an article.
- Record the problem they want solved and their industry.
- Mark stages: discovery, proposal, signed or lost.
- Add the engagement value when signed, and any follow-on work.
Business buyers do most of their research before calling. 6sense found buyers choose from one of the four vendors on their Day One Shortlist 95% of the time. (6sense, 2025) Knowing which searches and AI answers put you on those first lists is worth more than counting website visits.
Review quarterly as well as monthly, because a single large engagement can distort one month. Look for patterns: which problem pages bring signed work, which industries respond, which sources produce proposals that are lost.
Keep client names in your CRM. The enquiries and revenue report shows engagements by source next to your visibility.
Should management consultants write about methods like lean, ISO and Six Sigma?
Yes, if the writing reflects real experience and answers the questions buyers have before hiring help. Searches such as "how long does iso 9001 certification take", "lean implementation steps for small factory" or "difference between iso 9001 and iatf 16949" come from people deciding whether, and whom, to hire.
What makes method content earn enquiries rather than just traffic:
- Practical detail: realistic steps, what goes wrong, and what the client's team must do.
- Indian context: typical plant sizes, workforce training, certification bodies and audit realities in India.
- Honest effort and timelines, described in general terms rather than promises.
- A link to the related service page, so a reader can see how you help.
Avoid generic definitions copied from textbooks. Google says its systems prioritise helpful, reliable content created to benefit people (Google Search Central), and AI tools have plenty of generic definitions already.
Method articles also position individual consultants. A named author with real project experience gives readers and AI tools a person to trust. Publish under the consultant's name, and keep their LinkedIn profile consistent.
Track whether method articles appear for the questions they answer, and whether readers later enquire. Our guide on what answer engine optimisation is explains how these pieces get cited.
