Questions
Which searches suit a commercial insurance broker?
Searches that pair a specific cover with an industry or risk, such as "marine insurance for exporters", "fire insurance for factory", "product liability insurance india", "contractors all risk insurance" or "group health insurance for employees". These come from finance heads, HR teams and plant owners who need advice, not a price list.
Build your list around the covers you place and the industries you know:
- Cover plus industry: fire for textile mills, marine cargo for engineering exporters, liability for food processors.
- Event-driven searches: "insurance needed for a new factory", "cover for a bank loan requirement", "cyber insurance after a ransomware attack".
- Claims: "fire insurance claim process for factory", "marine claim survey".
- AI questions: "which insurance brokers in Mumbai specialise in marine cargo for exporters".
Broad searches such as "insurance broker" are crowded by large brokers and aggregators and seldom bring the right buyer. Track one or two to understand the market, but focus on specific ones.
These buyers research thoroughly. In a 2026 Semrush survey of US B2B professionals who use AI at work, 83% said AI influenced their final vendor decision. (Semrush, 2026) That is a US sample, but the behaviour fits large Indian corporates too. Track both Google searches and AI questions with Live AI Monitoring.
Do industry pages help a commercial insurance broker?
Yes. Businesses want a broker who understands their risks, and an industry page shows that before the first meeting. A plant head at a chemicals unit reads "fire and liability insurance for chemical manufacturers" very differently from a generic "fire insurance" page.
What a strong industry page covers:
- The main risks in that industry, such as fire load, transit damage, product recalls or employee injury.
- The covers that usually apply, explained plainly.
- Common gaps you see, such as under-insurance or missing business interruption cover.
- What the claims process looks like for that industry.
- What information you need for a risk review.
Write about industries where you genuinely have experience. A page that lists twenty industries with the same paragraph helps no one and gives AI tools nothing specific to quote.
These pages also earn AI mentions. When a buyer asks ChatGPT "who can help a pharma company with product liability insurance in India", the tools look for sources that connect the cover, the industry and the place.
Keep claims factual and approved under your firm's advertising process; IRDAI's 2024 framework expects advertisements from intermediaries to be internally approved. (Mondaq, 2024) Track each industry's searches to see which pages are found.
Do AI tools name mid-size commercial insurance brokers?
Sometimes, when the broker has clear pages connecting specific covers, industries and places; otherwise AI answers tend to name the largest brokers and insurers. Ask an AI tool "best insurance broker for a manufacturing company in India" and you will usually get well-known names. Ask "broker for marine cargo insurance for engineering exporters in Pune" and a specialist with a matching page has a real chance.
Business buyers are relying on these answers. G2's 2026 research found AI chatbots are the number one source influencing which vendors make B2B buyers' shortlists. (G2, 2026) That study is of software buyers, so treat it as a signal about business buying behaviour rather than a figure for insurance.
What improves your chances:
- Pages per cover and per industry, written plainly.
- A claims support page describing your role.
- Articles that answer real buyer questions, such as how to value stock for a fire policy.
- Consistent firm details across your site, LinkedIn and industry directories.
AI answers change often. SparkToro and Gumshoe.ai found the odds of an AI tool giving the same brand list twice were under 1 in 100. (Search Engine Land, 2026) Check repeatedly over weeks rather than trusting one screenshot. How we measure explains our approach.
What can a commercial insurance broker say about claims support without breaching rules?
Describe your process accurately, and never promise outcomes or settlement amounts. IRDAI's 2024 framework bars misleading advertisements and unfair trade practices, and expects advertisements from intermediaries to be internally approved. (Mondaq, 2024) A line such as "we get every claim paid" is both misleading and impossible to stand behind.
What you can usefully say:
- Your role: helping the client notify the insurer, preparing documents, coordinating with surveyors and loss assessors, and following up.
- Your process: the steps in a fire, marine or liability claim, with what the client must do at each stage.
- Your team: who handles claims and their experience, stated factually.
- Preparation: what clients can do before a loss, such as keeping stock records and asset registers current.
Anonymised examples can help if they are accurate and approved: "a textile exporter's marine cargo claim, from survey to settlement, and what slowed it down". Avoid naming clients without written consent, and avoid implying that every claim follows the same path.
Claims content earns trust in search because buyers worry about it most. Searches such as "fire insurance claim process for factory" come from people who want to understand before they choose a broker.
How can a commercial broker track which risk reviews became placed policies?
Record the source of every enquiry when the risk review is requested, then update the record when the policy is placed and at each renewal. Commercial insurance has long cycles, and without that link it is impossible to tell which searches and pages brought valuable accounts.
A practical method:
- Ask every new prospect how they found you, and record it with the cover and industry they asked about.
- Mark the stage as the review progresses: information received, quotes obtained, placed or lost.
- Record the premium when placed, and the brokerage if you track it.
- Add renewals and additional covers to the same record each year.
Over time, this shows which industries and covers search brings you. A broker might find that "group health insurance for employees" brings many small enquiries, while "marine insurance for exporters" brings fewer but larger accounts that renew for years.
Business buyers also arrive after checking you elsewhere. In a 2026 Semrush survey of US B2B professionals, 71% said they visit a vendor's website after AI recommends it. (Semrush, 2026) Some of your "direct" enquiries may have started with an AI answer, which is why asking matters.
Keep client names and risk details in your broking system, not the marketing log. The enquiries and revenue report shows placed value by source each month.
