For insurance firms

Be the insurance adviser people and businesses find first.

People compare health, life, motor and business insurance online, and aggregators fill the first page. Track whether your firm still appears for the questions that matter in your city and specialism, and which enquiries become policies.

14 days free, no card. Pay in rupees by UPI, card or net banking.

Insurance advertising is regulated by IRDAI under the 2024 policyholder-protection regulations and master circulars, which replaced the 2021 advertisement regulations. Insurers need a Board approved advertising policy, and advertisements by agents and intermediaries must be internally approved. Explain cover and process plainly, without misleading claims about premiums, claims or benefits. We measure visibility only.

Policies renew every year, business insurance is complex enough that buyers want an adviser, and local and specialist searches leave room beside the aggregators.

Questions

Questions

Where can insurance advisers beat aggregators online?

On claim help, specialist covers and local searches, where a person who explains things has the edge over a comparison table. Aggregators are built to compare premiums. They are less helpful when the question is "my father is 68 with diabetes, what can he get", "how do I claim for a damaged truck" or "what cover does an export unit need".

India's insurance penetration stood at 3.7% in 2024-25, unchanged from the year before, per the IRDAI annual report. (Cafemutual reporting IRDAI, 2026) Many people are buying cover for the first time, and first-time buyers often want an explanation before a price.

Searches where advisers can win:

  • Claim help: "health insurance claim rejected what to do", "motor claim help in Pune".
  • Specific situations: cover for parents above 60, self-employed families, NRIs buying for parents.
  • Business covers: fire, marine, group health and liability, which need advice.
  • Local: "insurance advisor near me", "lic agent in Chennai" style searches.

Write one page per situation, explain your role at claim time, and name the insurers you represent. Then track those searches by city with Google Visibility to see where you appear.

Do policy renewals count in the enquiries and revenue report?

Yes. Log each renewal as a record with its original source, and the monthly report shows renewal value next to new business, so you can see the full worth of a search over time.

This matters more in insurance than in most fields because policies renew every year. A family that found you through "family floater health insurance help" and renews for years is worth many times its first premium. If you only count new policies, you undervalue the searches that bring loyal clients.

How to set it up:

  1. When a new policy is sold, record the source of the original enquiry.
  2. At renewal, add a new record linked to the same source, with the renewal premium.
  3. Mark lost renewals too, with the reason if known, such as moved to an aggregator.
  4. Compare searches by total value across new and renewed policies, not by first-year premium alone.

Keep policyholder details out of the log. The cover type, source, stage and premium are enough to see the pattern.

Over a year this shows which searches bring clients who stay. Often they are claim help and specialist cover searches, where the adviser earned trust at a difficult moment. See how the monthly report is laid out.

Which IRDAI advertising rules apply to insurers, agents and brokers now?

The IRDAI (Insurance Advertisements and Disclosure) Regulations 2021 have been replaced, so pages that cite them as current are out of date. (Mondaq, 2024) Advertising rules now sit in the IRDAI (Protection of Policyholders' Interests, Operations and Allied Matters of Insurers) Regulations 2024 and the master circulars issued in 2024.

Key points, as summarised by Mondaq: (Mondaq, 2024)

  • Every insurer must have a Board approved policy on advertisements.
  • The framework covers distribution channels, meaning agents and intermediaries, and all advertisements must be internally approved.
  • The compliance officer's role continues for distribution channels.
  • Misleading advertisements and unfair trade practices, as defined under the Consumer Protection Act 2019, are barred.
  • The rules apply across all channels, including social media.

IRDAI's 2024 master circular also says unit-linked and index-linked products must not be advertised as investment products. (Business Standard, 2024)

In practice, an agent or broker should treat every promotional page, post and video as an advertisement that needs approval through the insurer's or broking firm's process. Educational pages that explain how cover or claims work, without pushing a product, are easier to approve and are what people search for. Confirm the specific requirements with your insurer or compliance officer; this is not legal advice.

Can individual agents run their own website and social media pages?

Often yes, but under the insurer's or intermediary's control, not on your own terms. IRDAI's 2024 framework covers distribution channels, meaning agents and intermediaries, and expects all advertisements to be internally approved, with the compliance officer's role continuing for distribution channels. (Mondaq, 2024) The rules apply on social media as well.

Before building anything, ask the insurer or firm you are attached to:

  1. Is a personal website allowed, and must it carry specific details such as your licence, the insurer's name and registration number?
  2. Which content needs approval: every page, or only product promotion?
  3. Are there approved templates or product descriptions you must use?
  4. What is the process and timing for approval?

Content that tends to be easier to approve and is useful in search:

  • How to choose between term and endowment cover, in plain terms.
  • What happens at claim time and what you do to help.
  • Documents needed for a health claim or a cashless admission.
  • A local page with where and when clients can meet you.

Avoid stating premiums, ranks or claim outcomes unless the approved material does. Keep dated copies of what was approved. This is general information; your insurer's compliance team has the final word.

How do people use Google and AI tools when choosing insurance?

They compare online first, then look for someone to explain the choice, and AI answers increasingly shape the comparison stage. A typical path for a family is a broad search ("best health insurance for family"), a narrowing search ("health insurance for parents above 60 with diabetes") and then a search for help ("health insurance advisor near me" or "claim help").

AI tools are often in the middle of that path. Google's AI Overviews had over 2 billion monthly users in July 2025 (Alphabet, 2025), and TechCrunch reported that AI Mode had over 100 million monthly users across the US and India at the time. (TechCrunch, 2025) These answers usually list insurers and aggregators. Advisers appear only when they have clear pages on specific situations.

What people check before calling an adviser:

  • Which insurers the adviser can offer, not just one.
  • What is excluded, explained honestly.
  • Who helps at claim time.
  • Whether the person is licensed and reachable locally.

Answering those on your own site gives both Google and AI tools facts to quote. Business buyers of commercial cover behave differently, researching by industry risk, which the commercial brokers page covers.
