Questions

Questions

Should we write about problems or products?

Both, but write about problems first, because buyers often search for the problem. Pages about outcomes, such as line automation, energy monitoring or upgrading old controls, catch buyers who do not yet know which PLC or SCADA platform they need.

A plant head searches "how to reduce downtime on packaging line", "energy monitoring for factory" or "upgrade old plc system", not "Siemens S7-1500 integrator". If your site lists only brands and products, you miss them.

How to structure it:

  • Solution pages: line automation, machine monitoring, energy monitoring, batch process control, legacy control upgrades.
  • Each solution page explains the problem, your approach, the platforms you use, typical timelines and an example project.
  • Product and platform pages support the solution pages for buyers who search by brand.

A good solution page reads like a short consultation: what usually goes wrong, what fixing it involves, what results look like, and what the buyer needs to prepare.

AI answers follow the same logic. Buyers ask ChatGPT "how to automate a filling line" and the AI recommends integrators that explain their projects. A brand list gives the AI nothing to say about you.

How do case studies help?

They show you have solved a similar problem before, which is the main question buyers have about an automation partner. Without case studies, buyers doubt your experience, however strong your team is.

What a useful automation case study includes:

  • The plant and process, described without confidential details: "a mid-size dairy plant in Maharashtra, CIP and pasteurisation".
  • The problem: manual logging, frequent stoppages, energy waste, obsolete PLCs.
  • What you did: platforms, panels built in-house, integration, commissioning time.
  • Results, stated honestly: such as reduced changeover time or improved data, with numbers only where the client agreed and the numbers are real.
  • Photos of panels, screens and the line.

Write one case study per industry you want to win: packaging, food, pharma, water, chemicals, auto parts.

Case studies also help AI tools describe you. Ahrefs found that only 38% of AI Overview citations came from top-10 pages in its 2026 study. (Ahrefs, 2026) A precise case study page can be cited even if your site is not yet ranking strongly.

Avoid exaggerating results. Buyers call references, and a claim that does not hold up costs you more than a modest one.

How do plant heads use ChatGPT to find automation partners?

They ask it to explain options, estimate effort and suggest integrators, then check the names on Google and with peers. If your pages explain your solutions, platforms and projects clearly, you can be one of the integrators named.

Typical questions:

  • "Automation companies for packaging lines in Pune"
  • "How much does SCADA for a water treatment plant cost in India?"
  • "Siemens PLC integrators for pharma batch control"

Usage is widespread. Forrester reports the share of business buyers using AI in their buying process reached 94%. (Forrester, 2026) Plant heads and young engineers both use these tools.

What helps you appear:

  1. Solution pages for the problems you solve.
  2. Platform pages naming the PLC, SCADA and drive brands you work with.
  3. Case studies by industry and region.
  4. Clear service area and support details.
  5. Consistent facts on LinkedIn, partner directories (such as automation vendor partner lists) and your Google Business Profile.

Ask these questions in ChatGPT and Gemini every week and note who is named and what is said. Our post on why AI recommends your competitor explains common reasons for being left out.

How do we compete with software companies for IoT monitoring searches?

Lead with what software companies often cannot offer: on-the-ground integration with real machines, panels and sensors, plus commissioning and support at the plant. Monitoring and IoT searches often go to software companies, but many plants need someone who can wire it all up.

Searches like "iot energy monitoring for factories", "machine monitoring system", "oee monitoring" or "remote monitoring for pumps" come from plants wanting data. Software companies win with polished pages; integrators can win with practical ones.

What to publish:

  • Monitoring solutions by use: energy monitoring, OEE, condition monitoring, utility monitoring.
  • What is involved: sensors, meters, gateways, PLC integration, dashboards, data storage.
  • Retrofit on old machines: how you connect equipment without modern controls.
  • Data security approach, stated plainly.
  • Case studies with what was measured and what the plant did with the data.
  • Partnerships with software platforms, if you have them.

A comparison, "When you need an integrator and when a software subscription is enough", is useful to buyers and fair to both sides.

Track monitoring searches separately from automation searches, and tag monitoring enquiries. These projects often grow into wider automation work, so their full value shows up over time.

Should we list the PLC and SCADA platforms we work with?

Yes, clearly and specifically. Many buyers search by platform, such as "Siemens PLC integrator", "Rockwell automation partner" or "Wonderware SCADA developer", and machine builders choose integrators who know their preferred platforms. Listing them is necessary, though not sufficient on its own.

What to publish:

  • Platforms you work with: PLC families, SCADA and HMI software, drives, and any official partner status you hold.
  • Depth for each: number of projects, certified engineers, typical uses.
  • Industries where you have used each platform.
  • Migration experience: such as upgrading legacy controllers to current platforms.
  • Links to case studies using each platform.

Avoid listing every brand you have ever touched. Buyers and AI tools trust a focused list with evidence more than a long list of logos.

Remember that a list of brands alone is a weak page. Your site should also explain the problems you solve, because buyers often search by problem first.

Partner directories run by automation vendors are also places buyers and AI tools look. Make sure your listings there match your website. AI tools asked "Rockwell system integrators in Chennai" will draw on both, and consistent facts help you be named accurately.
