How they search
Searches like these come from pump, valve and machinery makers and automotive and railway suppliers.
What buyers check before they call
- Processes and materials
- Weight range per part
- Machining and finishing in-house
- Testing: chemistry, mechanical, radiography
- Quality systems such as ISO 9001 or IATF 16949
- Export experience
- Your pages show parts but not weight ranges and materials.
- Buyers abroad cannot see test facilities and choose another country.
- RFQ searches lead to sourcing platforms.
- AI tools list foundries that describe their capability.
- A page per process with materials and weight ranges
- Testing and quality
- Industries and parts supplied
- Export experience
- An RFQ form that accepts drawings

Questions
Do overseas buyers search for Indian foundries?
Yes. Many search for castings or forgings with "India" in the query, such as "investment casting manufacturer India", "sand casting foundry in india" or "forged flanges manufacturer India", and many more search without the country and compare suppliers worldwide. Track both versions in the countries you export to.
Pump, valve and machinery makers abroad, and automotive and railway suppliers, regularly look for new or backup sources. India is a well-known source for castings and forgings, but buyers choose foundries whose pages show capability and testing clearly.
What overseas buyers look for:
- Processes and materials: investment, sand, die casting; open or closed die forging; grades poured or forged.
- Weight range per part.
- Machining and finishing in-house.
- Testing: chemistry, mechanical, radiography, ultrasonic.
- Quality systems, such as ISO 9001 or IATF 16949.
- Export experience by country and industry.
Engineering exports reached USD 122.43 billion in FY 2025-26, an all-time high, EEPC India reports. (EEPC India, 2026) Castings and forgings are a long-standing part of that trade.
Set your main export countries as markets, track 10 to 15 searches in each, and add an export page if you lack one. Buyers abroad who cannot see test facilities often choose another country.
Which details matter most?
Process, material, weight range and testing. These decide whether you get the drawing. Your pages may show parts, but without weight ranges and materials a buyer cannot tell whether their part fits your foundry or forge.
What to state clearly:
- Process: investment casting (lost wax), sand casting (green sand, no-bake, shell), gravity or pressure die casting, open die or closed die forging.
- Materials: carbon and alloy steels, stainless grades, duplex, ductile and grey iron, aluminium alloys, brass and bronze, with standards such as ASTM, EN or IS grades.
- Weight range per piece for each process.
- Size limits and minimum wall thickness where relevant.
- Machining in-house and to what tolerances.
- Heat treatment available.
- Testing: spectrometer, tensile, hardness, impact, radiography, ultrasonic, magnetic particle.
- Annual capacity in tonnes.
Present these as a summary table on each process page, then add examples by industry: pump casings, valve bodies, automotive brackets, railway parts.
AI tools list foundries that describe their capability in this way. When a buyer asks "ductile iron casting foundries in India for 50 to 500 kg parts", only pages with those numbers can be matched.
Should we publish our testing facilities?
Yes, in detail, with photos and the tests each facility performs. Testing capability is one of the main ways buyers judge a foundry or forge, and buyers abroad who cannot see it often choose a supplier elsewhere.
What to publish:
- Chemical analysis: spectrometer type and elements covered.
- Mechanical testing: tensile, yield, elongation, hardness, impact at low temperature where relevant.
- Non-destructive testing: radiography, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, dye penetrant, with qualified personnel levels.
- Metallography: microstructure analysis.
- Pressure testing for valve and pump castings.
- Dimensional inspection: CMM, layout marking.
- Accreditation: NABL or similar for your lab, with scope, if you have it.
- Documents supplied: material test certificates, NDT reports, inspection reports.
Show a sample test certificate with customer details removed. Buyers want to see the format they will receive.
Testing pages also serve AI tools well. A buyer asking "Indian investment casting foundries with in-house radiography" can only get your name if your page says it.
In Gardner's 2025 survey, 55% of manufacturing buyers said they check AI results against other sources. (Gardner Business Media, 2025 survey) Your testing page is where that verification happens.
How do pump and valve makers find casting suppliers?
They search by casting process and material for their part type, such as "valve body casting", "pump casing casting supplier", "cf8m investment casting" or "wcb casting foundry", and check pressure testing, material certificates and machining capability. Pages built for their needs win their RFQs.
Pump and valve makers are among the steadiest buyers of castings and forgings. They need pressure-tight castings in specific grades, often with radiography and hydro testing, and often want machining done too.
What to publish for them:
- A page for valve and pump castings with part types: bodies, bonnets, discs, casings, impellers.
- Materials: WCB, WCC, LCB, CF8, CF8M, CF3M, duplex, CI and DI grades, bronze.
- Weight and size ranges.
- Testing: radiography to stated levels, hydro testing, material certificates.
- Machining of flanges, bores and seats.
- Customers, by type, where allowed.
Also publish forged parts if you make them: flanges, valve balls, stems.
India's valve and pump industry was valued at Rs. 19,911.10 crore in 2025, IBEF says. (IBEF, 2026) Every valve and pump maker in that industry needs reliable castings.
Track searches pump and valve makers use, and tag RFQs from them in your log to see their value.
What can a mid-size foundry do in 90 days to get more RFQs?
Rebuild your website around processes, materials, weight ranges and testing, add export and quality pages, and start recording where RFQs come from. Most foundry websites show a few photos and a machine list, so clear capability pages stand out quickly.
A practical plan:
- Weeks 1 to 2: list your processes, materials and best part types. Check your positions on searches like "investment casting manufacturer India" in India and your export markets, and ask ChatGPT who it names.
- Weeks 3 to 6: create a page per process with materials, weight ranges, tolerances, machining and testing, with photos of real parts by industry.
- Weeks 7 to 9: add testing, quality certifications and export experience pages. Make your LinkedIn and directory listings match.
- Weeks 10 to 12: add an RFQ form that accepts drawings and asks how the buyer found you.
- Week 13: review rankings, AI mentions and RFQs by source.
Reply to RFQs quickly with useful questions. A foundry that answers in a day with sensible technical points stands out from one that replies in a week.
Udyam registrations passed 8.7 crore by June 2026, PIB reports, (PIB, 2026) and many are small foundries competing for the same buyers. Clear capability pages are how you rise above them.
