Highlights
- Every weekly check now runs each buyer question as a Google search and captures the AI-written summary Google shows first.
- The new panel shows how many questions get an Overview, how many name the company, how many cite its website, and which rivals appear instead.
- Each Overview is kept word for word with its sources, as a dated snapshot.
- Included with both monitoring plans and the trial, and kept off the visibility score so week-on-week comparisons are unaffected.
October 26, 2026 – WebVisiblity today added Google AI Overviews tracking to Live AI Monitoring. Alongside ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity, each weekly check now runs the same buyer questions as Google searches and reads the AI Overview that Google places above the regular results.
Many B2B buyers still begin their research with a Google search, and for many searches the first thing they see is an AI-written summary rather than a list of links. Until now, a company could see what the four AI assistants said about it, but not what Google's own AI summary said for the same question.
What the new panel shows#
- Coverage: how many of the company's buyer questions currently trigger an AI Overview.
- Named: in how many of those Overviews the company appears.
- Cited: how often the Overview links to the company's own website.
- Rivals: which companies from the company's rival list are named instead, and how often.
- Sources: the websites Google drew on most for these questions.
- Evidence: every Overview kept word for word, with its sources and the date it was checked.
A short line in the weekly email summarizes the result, for example how many questions showed an Overview and in how many the company was named.
How it is measured#
Each search is run once per weekly check, from the United States and on desktop, using a search data service. Because Google decides case by case whether to show an Overview, and revises them frequently, every result carries the date it was captured.
The Google figures live on a dedicated panel, outside the visibility score. Week-on-week comparisons are therefore unaffected, and each number keeps a clear source. The full method is on the How we measure page.
Availability#
Google AI Overviews tracking is included at no extra cost in Live AI Monitoring, Radar mode and the free trial. Existing customers see a new Google AI Overviews item in the dashboard menu, and the first results appear the first time the dashboard is opened. It is not part of the one-off free check or Deep report. A sample version can be explored in the live demo.
Questions and answers
Which plans include Google AI Overviews tracking?
Both monitoring plans, including the free trial. It is not part of the one-off free check or Deep report.
Does it change my AI visibility score?
No. The Google figures have their own panel, outside the score, so week-on-week comparisons are unaffected.
Where are the searches run from?
The United States, on desktop, once per weekly check.
Why do some questions show no Overview?
Google decides search by search whether to show one, and that shifts over time. The panel marks which questions had an Overview on the day of the check.
About WebVisiblity
WebVisiblity is an AI visibility tool for B2B companies. It puts real buyer questions to ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity, shows whether a company is named and recommended, which rivals are named instead and which websites the answers cite, and keeps every answer word for word with its date and model. Its AI writer, Mentiq, drafts fact-checked pages from a company's own website.
